Kilauea crater

March 2, 2021

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is where most of our lava stuff happens. There's so much I love about the park after dark, but it is worthwhile to get there in time for the afternoon rainbows.

The Trade winds carry showers to the east side of Kilauea crater, but the west side often remains dry. That lets the late afternoon sun make a beautiful rainbow right over the crater filled with hot lava.
