The southern highway in Iceland has the wild Atlantic ocean to the south and tall cliffs, mountains, and glaciers to the north. The land is rugged and beautiful with occasional homes and farms.
Many of the buildings have an old look... not sure if they are, or it's the weather... or both. The sun doesn't rise much above the horizon, especially in the winter. I got to visit Iceland in January. That time of year ,the golden hours of sunrise and sunset last for over an hour, making everything that much more dramatic.
