Wa'a Wa'a

September 9, 2021

Along the rough Puna coast runs Government Beach road. The road once connected with the old "Red Road", but lava has since covered much of the area, separating the two.

Walking southwest from our home along the coast, the road rises into the jungle and drops down to the shore. You go past a stand of ironwood trees and some small cinder cones from an eruption a couple of hundred years ago. After a bit you enter the groves of towering mango trees. This little farm stand does business on the honor system and encourages us all to shop local.
